Do the algorithms have a float charge?

Our algorithms are designed for traction-based applications where there is a finite amount of time to complete the charge; for example, overnight while the machine is idle. As such the vast majority of algorithms are not designed with a float stage (there are certain algorithms that do have float logic but these are typically for specific OEM customers with specific charging requirements for their applications).

After completing the Bulk and Absorption phases of charging our algorithms enter a low current finish stage which returns the necessary overcharge and equalizes the cells to maintain capacity and battery life. The amount of overcharge and rate of current is different for each algorithm and depends on the battery it's optimized for.

In addition, current battery charger energy efficiency regulations from the US Dept of Energy, California Energy Commission, and Natural Resources Canada do not allow for a charger to operate in an indefinite float mode.
